About my Hypnotherapy Practice:

My Hypnotherapy Philosophy and background

There are many and varied approaches to Hypnotherapy but from the start of my training in the field I have focused intentionally on purely evidence-based practice. This means I do not practice disciplines that are as yet unable to provide satisfactory evidence for their efficacy.

The methods I use are long-established, peer-reviewed interventions and are aligned with the conclusions of, among others, the British Psychological Society, the British Medical Association and the American Medical Association.

I have a Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy, accredited by the National Council for Hypnotherapy, the General Hypnotherapy Register, the Register for Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and approved by the British Psychological Society

Hypnotherapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy are each proven effective psychotherapeutic approaches in their own right. Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an even more effective and long-lasting approach than either individual method.

Prior to being a full-time Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapist I worked for eight years for a leading international Investment Bank in the City of London, an education itself in human nature, behaviour and different strategies for coping in a highly pressured environment.

My Therapy in application:

I specialise in treating Anxiety and its related symptoms. Often these symptoms are overtly and directly linked to the underlying Anxiety, sometimes the connection is less obvious at first. The work that I do can be broken down into a few categories:

Some of the goals my clients frequently ask me to help them achieve include:

All of these things and more are achievable with Hypnotherapy. You already have it within you to attain your goals and make the positive changes you desire. Hypnotherapy is an increasingly popular and continually successful approach because of its high success rates, the durability of its results, the speed at which positive change can be brought about and then built upon and pleasant and relaxing nature of the process itself. My clients find our sessions to be instantly beneficial and often highly enjoyable - the difference in body-language and demeanour between the stressed and anxious client I greet at the start of our session and the confident, optimistic and carefree client to whom I say goodbye an hour later is profound.

How you feel and and respond to the world around you is within your control. Be who you want to be, feel how you want to feel - always.

We are all unique. Each of us has our own story, our own combination of strengths and weaknesses. I take a completely non-judgemental approach to each client and tailor the work that we do together (my method involves a strictly collaborative approach) to the individual. Extensive assessment results in a clear and goal-orientated plan for therapy, based on what the client wants to achieve. Some of the items available to utilise are in the list above, clients can benefit from a bespoke combination from this toolbox:

Think of how you are in general life. Do you diplomatically smile to those whose presence irks you, yet show little emotion for the people and things you hold dear? Do you have laughter for things that do not amuse you, yet make little time for the activities you truly love? Do you treat with kindness and consideration those who lack the same courtesy toward you? Are your opinions given less than equal value to those of the others in a conversation either at work or socially? Then Assertiveness Coaching could be for you. Learn to stand your ground without effort. People will respect you more and you will respect yourself. To be truly assertive is one of the fundamental life skills and leads to greater success, charisma, self-mastery and satisfaction.

We can continue to develop and grow throughout our entire lives. We are works in progress, not the finished article. You can learn to be a better version of you tomorrow, the day after you will be better still.

Do you know what it is to be completely and truly relaxed? It sounds like a stupid question but in my experience of training clients relaxation skills the ability to relax at will or even know how relaxation really feels is rare. I know this because of the typical reactions of those who I have helped to learn how to relax - it is unlike anything with which they are familiar. Suddenly so many of the challenges of life seem easily manageable and stresses and anxiety are conquerable. Once learned, the ability to relax goes from being an achievable process to a rapid ability to an unconscious instinct and the improvement on life is profound and positive.

Modern life is overfull of demands. We juggle our work, family, social and financial responsibilities, each of which could keep us busy on their own. If we are lucky we can just about manage but to rely on luck alone is no plan for the longer term and no wonder we sometimes cave-in to the pressure. Is this inevitable or can something be done to help? The answer can be seen in other people. The fact is that some people are better at dealing with life's pressures. They have learned the skills and principles of resilience and you can too. Don't continue to fight against the current, learn how to face modern life and prevail.

You can learn the skills required to liberate you from what you perceive to be holding you back.

Learn how and when anxiety effects you for the first step toward leading a less troubled and stressful life. By undergoing Anxiety Reduction you can improve the quality of your life and fully enjoy what it has to offer as if suddenly freed from its shackles.

There are few people who have never found themselves locked into a dismal and repetitive train of thought at some time in their lives, but for some people this pattern is frequent and unbreakable. Persistent thoughts can be deeply troubling and, when left to develop, can lead to intense dread of the thought prior to its appearance. The pattern becomes entrenched and seemingly unavoidable. This pattern can, however, be broken and freedom from persistent negative thoughts can be established.

You are stronger and more able than you think but your potential is hidden - even from yourself.

Bad habits such as nail-biting can seem trivial to those around the sufferer but to the individual affected a bad, persistent and unshakeable habit can be deeply annoying. There is often the expectation within the individual involved that if the habit is particularly long-standing or present since childhood then it cannot now be eradicated. This is not the case - to end or reverse a bad habit can be achieved in all cases with the use of Hypnosis, psychology, self-knowledge and minimal practice. The results are fast and often come with a great sense of relief for the sufferer.

First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.
